Last Saturday we took the train from plaza Catalunya, after a 10 minutes train ride we got of at Baixador de Vallvidrera and as soon as the train left we heard the birds sing and smell the fresh air of the forest. We walked up the mountain in two hours and sat down on the terrace in front of the church. We spent some time wandering around, some students took the elevator up to have an 360 degrees view over the city and the mountains. It was a great Saturday morning.

Our students managed to be at Plaza Catalunya at 08:00 on a Saturday morning to start the hike to Tibidabo! And getting out of bed early was so worth it. It was quiet and peaceful and fresh in the forest at this time. Taking a break from the vibrate city of Barcelona is good sometimes. When we reach the top we first had a cold drink on the terrace, then we visited the two churches and enjoyed the view. From the top of Tibidabo you can even see Montserrat.

Another great thing of Barcelona is that you are in nature after just a 20 minute train ride from plaza Catalunya. On Saturday morning we took the FGC and got of at Baixador de Vallvidrera and walked up to the top of Tibidabo. We had a drink on the terrace in front of the church in the sun. After this rest we climbed up the stairs and took the elevator all the way on top of the church to say “Hola” to jesus (who they painted gold recently). We took a thousand pictures and went down again. We walked to Vallvidrera, there we took the funicular down to the train which brought us back to plaza Catalunya. It was a great day!

Because of the Augustus heat we met at 08:30 in the morning at plaza Catalunya. From there we took the train and got of at Baixador de Vallvidrera. The minute you step out of the train you are in nature. Instead of the traffic noise you can hear the birds sing. We walked for 1,5 hours up the mountain until we got to the church and the amusement park on top. We had a cold drink and enjoyed the stunning views over the city and the mountains. It was a great Saturday morning spend in nature.

Another great thing about Barcelona is that after a train ride of only 20 minutes from Plaza Catalunya, you are in nature. Sunday morning we walked trough “Parque natural de Collserola” all the way up to the church of Tibidabo. Along the way we hear birds singing and see beautiful flowers. A great way to escape the city for a while. From the top of the mountain we have a good view, although there was a strange foggy big cloud hanging over the ocean this time, it was still worth the climb.

Saturday morning 10:00, some fresh students with comfy boots met in front of the Apple Store (not to buy an IPhone…just because everybody knows that store so it is practical to meet there). We took the train on Plaza Catalunya and got of at Baixador de Vaividrera. It is always amazing…just a 15 minutes train ride from the city centre and you are in nature. We started walking into the forest and paid the just renovated museum of Verdauger a visit. After that the rough hike began. Fortunately it was a bit cloudy, so it wasn’t too warm. Now and then we could see the mysterious Church of Tibidabo through the branches of the trees. After a walk of 1,5 hours we finally made it. First we had a well deserved cold drink on the terrace and then we went all the way to the top to greet Jezus and to enjoy the beautiful 360° views.

We met on Sunday morning at 10:00….early but so worth it! A 15 minutes train ride took us to the park Serra de Collserola. We walked up Tibidabo in 1,5 hours and enjoyed the views on the way. On top of Tibidabo we visited the church and took great pictures of the view over the city. After a while we took the bus, funicular and train back to plaza Catalunya. We really deserved a jump in the sea after this active morning!
